Andi and Andrew

Introduction

Shane:
Alrighty. Hi guys, how are you tonight?

Andrew:
Hey, good.

Andi:
Good.

Shane:
That’s good. Thanks for joining me to have a quick chat. I really appreciate it.

Andrew:
Thanks for having us.

Please give us an overview and background of your situation prior to you and I talking initially?

Shane:
What we’re doing is we’ve just been interviewing some of our clients, just to get some background and understand the situation where you were at before and after working with us. We just really want to share a few stories and see if it can help some other people as well. So, thank you very much. And I might just kick off … Do you mind giving a bit of background about what you were doing before you met me, in terms of your property search. What was happening for you guys?

Andrew:
Okay. I think we were looking to buy for a while.

Andi:
Yeah. Maybe about a year we’d been on and off going to open houses. We weren’t very dedicated, or serious about it though.

Andrew:
Yeah. I don’t know, I think it was-

Andi:
Towards the end when we [crosstalk 00:01:09].

Andrew:
Before we contacted you.

Andi:
Before we engaged you, we had become more serious about it.

Andrew:
Yeah.

Andi:
Initially, we were just fucking about for a little while. I think we had a pretty clear idea of where we wanted to be.

Andrew:
I think so, yeah. Like the suburb, yeah.

Andi:
And sort of like, we knew we wanted a new, or close to new home. But, we just [inaudible 00:01:31] that really fit what we wanted.

Andrew:
Yeah, they we’re just a bit icky. I think then we decided to build, and then I think it became even harder to find [inaudible 00:01:46] land size and all that, and all that sort of stuff. That’s when we contacted you as well.

Have you ever heard of a Brisbane Buyers Agents before? What concerns have you had in using one?

Shane:
And had you heard of buyer’s agents before that?

Andrew:
No, actually. So it was-

Andi:
We had a friend who had [crosstalk 00:02:02] We haven’t heard of you specifically, but we had a friend who had used one. But, I think they went for ages, like six months-

Andrew:
Yeah, and there was still sort of no [crosstalk 00:02:14]

Andi:
[inaudible 00:02:14] put us up a little bit.

Andrew:
I think so, yeah.

Shane:
Where are you looking by the way? It will give everyone a bit of context.

Andrew:
[inaudible 00:02:24] That sort of area, Western suburbs, I guess.

Shane:
Yeah. We had a conversation about the buyer’s agent services and how that kind of works. How’d you feel after that conversation in terms of, did you have any reservations about the service? What were your thoughts after our call?

Andrew:
What do you mean? What do you mean services?

Shane:
Buyer’s agent, our service as an option for you? Did you have any concerns about that, or any thoughts about it after we had our regional calls?

Andrew:
No. Actually, I think it was a really good call.

Andi:
I also don’t remember it. Did we have a call with Shane?

Andrew:
Yeah.

Andi:
It was a Zoom call, wasn’t it?

Andrew:
Yeah.

Shane:
That’s right.

Andi:
Okay. It was during lock down, wasn’t it?

Andrew:
Yeah. It was just talking about what we wanted and what we were looking for [crosstalk 00:03:25]

Andi:
Yeah. I think we felt pretty good.

Andrew:
I think so. [crosstalk 00:03:34].

Andi:
We felt a little bit more guided.

Andrew:
Yeah. Someone who knows what they’re doing. [crosstalk 00:03:37].

Andi:
We didn’t know what we were doing.

Shane:
That’s fair enough. Did you interview some other buyer’s agents? I hadn’t asked you that before.

Andrew:
No, we were directly-

Andi:
We got recommended you from Rocky.

Andrew:
Yeah, that’s right. Yep. That’s exactly right.

What key things were important to you when deciding to partner with a Brisbane Buyers Agent?

Shane:
So before deciding to move forward, what were your sort of key things that were important to you with the decision?

Andrew:
With going with the buyers that we knew?

Shane:
Yeah. [crosstalk 00:04:08].

Andrew:
Honestly, I didn’t think of any key things. I thought that first meeting with you and just sort of sorting out all the what we wanted. I thought I was pretty-

Andi:
I felt reassured.

Andrew:
I was keen to just go straight away, honestly.

Andi:
Yeah. I was keen to see what you came up with.

Andrew:
There wasn’t really any like should we, or shouldn’t we? I was just keen to start, honestly. That was a good first meeting, I think.

Andi:
I think even if you have-

Shane:
Why is that do you think? [inaudible 00:04:32]

Andrew:
Clearly you know what you doing. And you were listening to us.

Andi:
I think so.

Andrew:
I think you’re good at listening to what we wanted and you seem to be on the same page very, very quickly.

Andi:
And it sounded like you’d had people far pickier than us.

Andrew:
Yeah, true.

Andi:
That was reassuring.

Andrew:
I’m a little picky.

Andi:
Yeah.

Once we got moving, what was the home buying experience like in working with us?

Shane:
That’s good to hear. So once we got kicked off, what stood out for you, or how was your experience in working with us?

Andrew:
It was very good we were working with you. I thought that you helped us a lot. I think because we have never bought any property before, I had a lot of silly little questions and you answered them all. You really helped us get along that process. I know nothing about that sort of stuff.

Andi:
I think not even like up to the buying part, but even just when we were looking at the property, I like how … I don’t actually remember, but we looked at another property with you that was like behind St. Lucia IGA. And we weren’t looking at it as a buy for us, but more like as a comparison, because we were a little bit unsure because it was like the first one that you had found for us was actually Jessica Street. So we were scared that we would just like jump in on it because it was the first one.

Andrew:
Yeah. I think it was nice that you took the time to [crosstalk 00:06:09]

Andi:
And I remember we kept going, “What do you think Shane? Should we buy it?” Like it was your decision.

Shane:
Yeah. I remember [inaudible 00:06:16] we found the perfect property straight away. We went to Dell Road, that’s the one.

Andrew:
That’s the one, yeah.

Andi:
Is that the [crosstalk 00:06:24].

Shane:
Yeah, behind the shops there.

Andi:
I remember we looked at these three houses being built side by side on Central Avenue, or something? Ninth avenue, one of those avenues. Yeah. [crosstalk 00:06:37]

Andrew:
Three or four together, just as a comparison, which is good to see. You know the area really well.

Shane:
And so obviously we bought quite quickly. So it was only, I think, a couple of weeks.

Andrew:
Yeah, exactly. It didn’t take very long at all, actually. It was super duper quick. I think we were sort of the ones that would dawdling on saying yes, or no to the property. I think that’s what took longer than finding it almost.

Andi:
Yeah.

Shane:
What do you remember about that part of the process? Negotiation and then going through those due diligence time. What sort of stood out for you along that time?

Andi:
It was very quick.

Andrew:
Yeah, it was very quick, actually. I think we pretty much just let you handle it. It all just happened behind the scenes and we just had to say yes.

Andi:
Yeah. I remember I was at work that day and I was working from 8:30, till eight o’clock and from the start of the day to the end of the day we bought the house. I only checked my messages three times.

Shane:
Yeah, I remember that day. It was a few back and forths, a few phone calls.

Andi:
I think it was with Andrew. I had nothing to do with it because I was working the whole time. And then by the end of the day we already bought a house.

Shane:
It’s that simple. And how are your plans coming along, by the way?

Andrew:
Coming along [crosstalk 00:08:01].

Andi:
I think we were slowing the process also.

Andrew:
We’re getting there.

Andi:
We’re nearly there [crosstalk 00:08:07]

Andrew:
Signing contract. [inaudible 00:08:10].

Shane:
So they’re almost finished. I’m excited to see what you build.

Andi:
Yeah. I don’t know if you’ve seen like anything since …

Andrew:
Sort of early on.

Andi:
Pretty early on, yeah.

Shane:
[inaudible 00:08:25] early on versions, because obviously we had the site visit there and put some options together. There were some options put there together for you. But after that, I hadn’t seen … I think I’ve seen maybe one, or two iterations after.

Andrew:
Yeah, I think so.

Shane:
You’ve made it bigger.

Andi:
Yeah, we did. We made it a bit bigger. There’s a lot of windows. We might end up just living in a glass box.

Shane:
You get lots of light, but you [crosstalk 00:08:55] Yeah, you get that sun through. What would you guys say to anybody that might be considering this kind of service, but sitting on the fence?

Andrew:
I would say go for it. Honestly, go for it.

Andi:
There’s nothing to lose.

Andrew:
Yeah.

Andi:
If you’re considering the service … No offense to you, Shane, but you’ve probably come to like pretty desperate times. You’ve already tried it yourself and you know that you suck at it and haven’t [crosstalk 00:09:28]

Andrew:
No, I think just … you might not find … It’s not that everything’s available.

Andi:
It’s not always going to be what you expect.

Andrew:
Not everything’s available to you, like the average buyer as well. There’s a lot of off market stuff, which is what we got. So it’s probably not just about being in desperation mode, or something. We don’t have as much access as you would to all the properties as well. And plus, I feel like it’s a lot less stressful as well.

Andi:
Definitely.

Andrew:
If that’s worth anything.

Andi:
And especially for something like a build, I think it’s hard to see the old property and see its potential.

Shane:
Yeah. It’s often tricky to visualize, or to see what that might look like. Yeah. No, that’s pretty cool. Anything else you guys wanted to add, or mention?

Andrew:
I don’t know. Just go for it, I reckon. Just go with Shane. I think you just made it really easy for us.

Andi:
Yeah, it was very stressful.

Andrew:
I would recommend you to anyone.

Andi:
Yeah. You definitely know what you’re talking about.

Shane:
Thank you, thank you. Well, thank you so much for joining me to have a quick chat. We’ll have to catch up when you show me the plans. I definitely want to see what’s coming soon. I can’t wait to see it finished as well. Thanks again, guys. Thanks for joining me.

Andrew:
No, that’s good. Thanks.

Andi:
Thanks for all your help.

Andrew:
Yeah, exactly.

Shane:
My pleasure. See you later. Cheers.
