Why Norman Park?
This inner-city suburb is about 6 km east of Brisbane. It comprises a quiet multi-generational community that is family friendly. Some surrounding areas include Seven Hills, New Farm, Camp Hill, Hawthorne, Coorparoo and East Brisbane. For those serene moments, there’s a river nearby that provides a cool breeze.
The public transport network is well established with three bus routes, a railway line (the Cleveland), and a ferry terminal (Norman Park). There are many cycling and walking paths. You can be in the CBD in 12-15 minutes by car, 18-24 minutes by bus, 25 minutes by bicycle, and 60 minutes on foot.
Norman Park is home to several great coffee shops and restaurants that are a few minutes’ walk from residential buildings. They include Dovetail on Overend, Jacu Espresso, Hello Garry, and Clancy’s Espresso. Shopping places are plenty, like Carindale and Comeslie (which has Coles and Woolies).
It boasts of nine recreational parks, such as Beak Street Park, Pattison Park, Rollo Park and Wilson Park. Most of these parks have playgrounds, picnic sites and dog off-leash zones. There are also extensive reserves and parklands, including Norman Creek Greenway. Sporting clubs like the Easts Leagues club and a local bowls club are also accessible.
The 2016 census shows that the Norman Park population was 6,287 with a median age of 34. Most of the people who live here are professionals, families with kids, retirees, and singles. The majority of the dwelling structures are separate houses, whereby 62% of the inhabitants own their houses while the rest live in rentals.
