Why Bardon?

Bardon is a leafy suburb that is 5 kilometres north-west of Brisbane’s CBD and about a 20-minute drive away. It nestles into Mount Coot-tha Park’s foothills and is close to suburbs including Redhill, Milton, and Paddington.

It has regular bus services like the 385 and the 375 cruising to and from the city. The excellent road network comprises the ‘Metroroad 5’ western bypass that connects the Western Freeway to the Centenary Highway. This bypass also links into Brisbane.

Bardon shops and shopping centres are located in the various streets and include Bardon foodstore on Stuartholme road, Brass Shop Magins on Boundary Road, and The Bardon Shed on 8 Runic Street. The Bardon Shed is a mix of a coffee house, deli, gourmet, and greengrocer.  Some of the recreation facilities in this quiet suburb are a bowling club within Bardon Park, swimming pools like Bardon Swimming Pool, gyms such as the Goodlife Bardon, and the Botanic Gardens at the mountain’s base.

The 4065 is home to several parks and reserves like the Rainworth Park on 67 Main Avenue. There are park entrances from most of its streets. It also has the Bardon House that is part of the Queensland heritage.

Demographics

Bardon’s population is 9,500 with most residents being in the 40-59 age bracket though it appeals to all ages. It serves people from all classes, including professionals, retirees, singles, families, young adults, and students. Most houses here are freestanding on large plots of land.

Health, education, and schooling

The Bardon Rainwater Medical Centre situated on Boundary road is within 4065. The nearest public hospital on the northern side is Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital. It is 8km away, which is a 15-minute car ride. Bardon is 18 minutes’ drive to the closest university, The University of Queensland through Metroad 5, 9 km away. Local government primary schools include St Joseph’s Catholic, Ithaca Creek, Bardon State School, and Rainworth State School.
